3 BEST FREE Alternatives to Asana Project Management Tool 2021
3 BEST FREE Alternatives to Asana Project Management Tool 2021

Asana is the most popular project management tool online. It is very easy to understand how to use it and its interface is really promising.
For small businesses, self-employed, and students out there, there is a free basic plan offered by Asana. But its free software version has its limitation.
If I were you, I’d switch to other free tools like Asana that offers fewer restrictions. Here are the top 3 best Asana alternatives for 2021. I used all these apps and I think you should use them too!
Â
Is there a free version of Asana?
Yes, if you choose Asana basic plan, you can do the following:
ASANA
FREE PLAN
Manage tasks and personal to-dos:
- Unlimited tasks
- Unlimited projects
- Project Brief
- Calendar view
- Unlimited messages
- Unlimited activity log
- List view projects
- Board view projects
- Assignee and due dates
- Project Overview
- iOS and Android mobile apps
- Unlimited file storage (100MB per file)
- Collaborate with up to 15 teammates
- Time tracking with integrations – See time tracking apps
- 100+ free integrations with your favorite apps – Learn more
Seems good, right? If you only like to keep a simple list, perhaps small pieces shown on your Kanban board, this should work for you. I tried their free basic plan and I can still use the list, board, and calendar with ease.

Â
What are the restrictions with Asana’s basic plan?
– You can’t add a starting date to your tasks. For example, Your task 1 is from Monday to Tuesday, you can only choose 1 day, perhaps Monday.
– Timeline and dependencies – teams cannot build Gantt charts to map out plans
– Custom Fields – Teams will lose the ability to monitor status and track stages
– Forms – Teams cannot manage work requests
– Rules – Tasks will not be automated
– Premium and Business Features
Asana has 30 days free trial, if you like it, you can pay for the premium plan for $10.99 per month (per user), business plan, or enterprise plan.

ClickUp
ClickUp is relatively new compared to Asana and Trello but they acquired a lot of customers in a short time.
The website’s interface looks very professional and organized although you might be overwhelmed at first since it has tons of functions. Good thing there are video tutorials on the page!

If you use Monday.com, it looks similar to ClickUp. It has subtasks, assignees, spaces/boards, notifications, and more.
When you create a task, you can be as detailed as ever. So, if you like to step up your organization skills, I highly recommend ClickUp.

It has a home tab where you can browse your tasks easily.
